  1. Build a Keyword-Rich LinkedIn Profile Headline

You get 120 characters, use them! But how Alan, how? How do I write a compelling, key-word rich LinkedIn headline I hear you ask.

Well it’s not as difficult as it sounds, in fact it’s pretty simple if you follow these three steps…

  • Be passionate about it!

  • Share something personal, something emotive helps hook the reader in.

  • Ask a question? Rhetorical, or not it gives the reader an opportunity to open talk to you, because you’ve already opened up the dialogue.

2. Personalise your LinkedIn URL

Well, sometimes things that seem small can make a big difference! Apart from a customised URL looking more professional, boosting your credibility,  helping people find you with ease on LinkedIn itself it is also incredible for your personal brand SEO on Google search!

3. Don’t Leave your LinkedIn About Section Blank

This is the part where you get to tell LinkedIn and the world what you’re all about!! Throw your elevator pitch at it, talk about what makes you tick. You have 2,000 words to play with here, so it’s a great opportunity to make your profile stand out.

4. Share Updates on your LinkedIn Profile

Once, you have your LinkedIn profile up and running and all your sections filled out it’s time to get out there and mingle! Like all great networking opportunities you won’t make any waves without jumping into the pool!

Put yourself out there and you’ll make connection.

Share what you’re doing, professionally of course, no green juice, or organic fair trade quinoa pictures here please, unless you’re a nutritionalist like, in that case work away!

5. Don’t Forget to Upload your LinkedIn Profile Photo and your LinkedIn Cover Photo

And here’s the sales pitch!! Of course you can stick up a selfie, or that beautiful shot of you at your mates wedding with your mates arm around you, but the rest of your mate is nowhere to be seen! By all means go for it! Sure we all look great with a load of pints inside us!!

If however, you want to put your best foot forward on LinkedIn maybe go wild and hire a professional photographer! There’s lots of great ones out there, not a bad bunch at all.

Sure give me a shout if you like!!
